Newsletter for October
Hello, friends. I am incorporating into my blog a newsletter of sorts, which I hope to send out on the third Monday of each month. If you sign up (or have signed up) for emails, this one will link to the month’s new posts. It’s a work in progress.
Other blog posts: I posted one erasure spread. I’m still painting in two books most mornings.
Reading: I am still thinking about Kim Stanley Robinson’s The Ministry for the Future. It’s speculative fiction with lots of nonfiction mixed in, and it might sprinkle some hope over your climate despair. The novel was published in 2020, and things have gotten worse since then, but maybe some of the novel’s hope is still possible. I often check out books that I dread reading, and I often don’t read more than a few pages due to mixed dread and despair. This novel, I enjoyed. It’s a good candidate for a one-book, permanent book club.
Also, you can’t go wrong reading Valeria Luiselli.
Writing news: I’m working on three larger projects. And my story “They Named the Streets for Virtues So Girls Had Nowhere Else to Go” was published by JMWW.
And a song: “Summer Girl,” by HAIM, because summer.
Thanks for reading! If you’re progressive, make sure to vote!
