At the lake

I met the spiderwebs halfway I did not stop I swam out, swam back Turned from shore like a merganser My head plumed in light Waves broke before the rock Went on swelling Three cells of film gone blank Stones filling in Spiderwebs The bird ate a fish A fish? A fish Sandals slid on the boulders machines had dropped there Storm drain inlet Squared and broken boulders to stop the lake To keep us out Storm drain inlet Another Boulders not wholly fake but inelegantly altered Discordant for a new, long stretch of their lives
